Hi there! I’m happy you’re here.

I’m Julie, a twenty-something-year-old living in the City of Brotherly Love.

I created this website as an extension of who I am and the things I love talking about: self-love and self-care, food, music, makeup, marketing, work, fashion, dating, and so much more! I hope you find interest in whatever you stumble upon on this blog.

A little bit about me…

I’ve always been intrigued by the power of the Internet. When I was nine years old, I created a MySpace. Wtf? I know. Of course, it was a secret that my sister (who’s 5 years older) and I kept from my parents.. but they eventually found out after I received gifts from friends who resided in the UK (thanks, McFly!).

Fast forward a few years to when MySpace was no longer cool, I turned to Tumblr. It was a way to express my low-key obsession with losing weight when I was in high school. Over those 3 years I ran that blog, I learned how important self-care, self-love, and physical and mental health was through the encouraging and supportive friendships I created with, yet-again, strangers around the world. And, it was pretty cool generating over 46,000 followers. Who knew sharing my personal weight loss and health story would be interesting or inspiring to even one person?! Thanks to those who showed me the true meaning of friendship, even if it was started from people behind screens!

This idea of connection and creativity led me to Temple University, where I studied both Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the Fox School of Business. I triumphed until I failed with my first (actual) “real” job. I always thought the Music Industry was my calling until I worked for WMG part-time as a College Marketing Representative. My passion for music, which was the initial reason I created my MySpace in the first place, had dwindled! So much! So, I turned to other opportunities that didn’t necessarily limit me to that industry, but taught me valuable and transferrable skills. (These included the importance of integrated marketing communications and how to represent brands on social media.)

Upon graduation, I couldn’t think of anything better than to stay and start my post-grad life in Philly. While it felt like home, I didn’t exactly realize how limited this city was in terms of industry — there’s healthcare, higher education, hospitality and tourism, and marketing agencies dedicated to all of the above. However, none of those caught my interest. I always thought marketing for some cool consumer packaged goods company would be an incredible and fun(!) opportunity. Never once did I think I’d begin my career at a startup. Or a TAHINI company. And that’s exactly what happened. That’s a whole other story….

Fast forward another two years (and two promotions!) and I haven’t looked back since. Being the Digital Sales & Marketing Manager for this rad company at the ripe age of 24 has proven to me that hard work and dedication, an open mind, and an unswerving adoration to learn and connect with others can lead to opportunities you can’t pass up. I’m enjoying riding the wave and look forward to exploring what adventure comes next.

I hope my site opens your eyes to how self-love, self-care, helpful tips, and connecting deeply with your passions can fuel your life the way they’ve fueled mine.

xo,

Julie
